ASTRO SABER & XTS 3000 DEPOT R05.02.02
===========================================================================

This is the first version of Windows based Depot for the ASTRO Saber and the XTS3000 radios.
Please note that there are few differences between this version of the Depot and the previous DOS based Depot application.

 1. Depot Key:
The DOS Depot key is not honored by this version of the Depot, instead,
a Windows Depot key is required which uses an ibutton. This Windows Depot key
should be attached to the parallel port or USB port in your computer, NOT the SRIB.
PLEASE NOTE: All Depot applications use the same Depot iButton.

 2.Authorization disk:
The DOS Depot installation disk (floppy disk) also contained the authorization
program, and the authorization program was transferred from the floppy disk to the
hard disk automatically during installation.
The Windows Depot installation package doesn't contain the authorization program,
the authorization program is stored in a separate floppy disk included with the Windows
Depot package. It is required to insert the authorization disk during the Depot installation
if prompted by the install program.
PLEASE NOTE: The authorization program is shared among all portable Depot applications.
If ASTRO 25 Portable Depot is already installed, ASTRO Saber & XTS3000 Depot will NOT
require to install the authorization program again and the uninstallation of the
ASTRO Saber & XTS3000 Depot application will NOT remove the authorization program
IF another Depot Portable application is using it. HOWEVER, ASTRO 25 Depot WILL
remove the authorization program when uninstalling it, regardless if any other application
is using it. This will cause the remaining Depot application NOT to work. In this case,
ASTRO 25 Depot MUST be installed in order to get the authorization program back in that computer.

 3. It is recommended to use version 'D'(RLN1015D) of the SRIB box when communicating with the radio.

System Requirements:
--------------------
Operating Systems: Windows 98 Second Edition,
Windows NT 4.0 (SP 6a or higher),
                     Windows 2000

Note: XP upgrade from other operating systems
is not supported if the DEPOT was previously installed
on the old operating system. Windows ME and
Windows 98 First Edition are no longer supported.
You may choose to proceed with the installation, but
some features might not be functioning properly.
Upgrading the operating system is highly recommended.

Hardware Requirements:
Processor 400 MHz or higher Pentium grade Processor
Memory 128 MB RAM minimum for Windows 98 Second Edition, NT
		             and 2000
256 MB RAM minimum for Windows XP (Home or Professional)
Hard Disk Space 1 Gigabyte Drive with 450 MB minimum free space (for a
                     Typical Installation, including Help Audio-Visual
Tutorials) or 60 MB minimum free space (for a Compact
                     Installation)

Peripherals Microsoft Windows supported Mouse or Trackball
                     Microsoft Windows supported Serial Port
                     for radio communication
                     Microsoft Windows supported Printer Port
                     for report printing
                     CD-ROM for software installation

Installation:
-------------

1) When you insert the Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive, the installation
will start automatically. You may select to install the Depot or the Tuner or
both applications. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.

2) Before uninstalling the Depot, disable the Depot Password if you have enabled
this feature, and close the Depot Launcher if it is running in the system
    tray.

3) If a file installed by the Depot later becomes corrupted, the Repair
option on the Installation CD may be used to restore it. It is very
important that the Installation CD for the same version that is
installed on the computer is used for Repair. Use of a different
version in an attempt to Repair an installation will result in further
    corruption.

4) Windows NT Installation: If the Install does not find the shlwapi.dll in
*\WINNT\System32 directory, you will need to install Internet
Explorer 4.1 or above to facilitate the XML installation, which is required
for the FLASHport feature of the Depot.

Programming Hints:
------------------
1) You can use your DOS archive files in the ASTRO Depot without the need for
any conversion process. There is no Depot Archive Converter; you simply
read your DOS archives directly into the Depot. To open a DOS codeplug in
the ASTRO Depot, select File->Open from the Menu, and change the setting
in the "Files of type" drop-down to "All Files (*.*)". You will then be
able to select any DOS archive and click the "Open" button. When you are
ready to save the archive, select File->Save As from the Menu, and save
your archive as a .cpg (Windows archive) file. The DOS RSS cannot read
archive files saved with this or later versions of Windows Depot.

2) If your DOS archive ends in an extension that Windows recognizes as a
particular file type (*.xls, which Windows recognizes as an Excel file, for
example), you may need to enter the .cpg extension in the Save As dialog.

3) The first time you start the Depot, you should go to the User Settings
Dialog under the Tools menu and set up the directories where you will store
    your system keys.

4) To get help on a field, press F1 or 'right click' and select 'What's this?'
while you are on the field, or click on the Help button on the tool bar (an
arrow with a question mark) and then click on the field for which you want
    to view help.

5) For more information on the features available in the Windows Depot, we
suggest you view our audio-visual help tutorials. They can be accessed from
the Depot menu by selecting Help->CPS Help Topics, and then double-clicking
on CPS Tutorials, then The Tutorials Menu. Then select the tutorial you
    wish to view.

6) The following is a list of USB-serial port converters that have been tested
   in the following computers:

Converters: Cables to Go, SF Cable, StarTech.com, IO Gear, USB Serial and Access I/O

Computers tested: Desktop - DELL Optiplex GX1
Laptops - DELL Latitude, IBM ThinkPad, COMPAQ PC Tablet

Operating Systems tested: Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows NT, Windows 2000,
			  Windows XP

For additional information, please contact the manufacturer for the device
   drivers for your machine.

Known Issues:
-------------
1) Drop down items in table fields cannot be accessed when using Windows XP
Professional "Windows XP Style" display. If this issue is encountered,
change the display setting to "Windows Classic Style" for proper
   functionality.

2) Attempting to Read from or Write to a radio with the Depot while the Tuner
is open will cause a communication failure.

3) When any of the Emergency fields becomes invalid, attempting to save this
file might cause the Depot to terminate abnormally.

4) Depending on your computer configuration, "USB" may be listed in the Port
Configuration drop-down when you attempt to read a radio. USB communication
is not supported by ASTRO radios. You must select a valid Serial Communication
Port to read from and write to your ASTRO radio.

5) CBI Programming may fail intermittently, especially on Dell PCs. On machines
where this is an issue, multiple retries might be required. Changing the port
   settings as follows may help:

    On Windows 2000:
        1. Right click 'My computer' and select 'Manage' from context
           menu.
        2. Select 'Device Manager' on the tree in the left pane.
        3. Expand the node 'Ports' on the tree in the right pane.
        4. Double click the port that is being used
        5. Go to 'Port Settings' Tab
        6. Click 'Advanced'
        7. Uncheck 'Use FIFO buffers' check box.
        8. Click 'OK'
    On Windows NT 4.0:
        1. Double click 'Ports' icon in control panel.
        2. Select the port that is being used and click Settings.
        3. Click 'Advanced'
        4. Uncheck 'FIFO Enabled' check box.
        5. Click 'OK'

6) If the user has two Depot applications open, and has opened Help in one of them,
an error will sometimes appear if the user attempts to open Help in the other
Depot application. If this situation occurs frequently, the user can copy both
.hlp files (AstroMob.hlp for the ASTRO Spectra Depot and AstroPort.hlp for the
ASTRO Saber & XTS3000 Depot) from the installed location (usually C:\Program
   Files\Motorola\<Application Name>) to the Windows\System folder (for 98 Second
Edition, XP) or the Winnt\System32 folder (for NT, 2000). Help can then be
run from both Depot applications at the same time.

7) For particular computer configurations, the radio display may flash "FL01/90"
after communicating with the Depot. This especially happens with Dell Latitude
or HP Omnibook laptops running Windows 2000,after performing a read, write, or
clone operation. The Depot operation has been successful, but the serial port on
the computer has not released the communications line. A quick workaround is to
simply reset radio manually and it will return to a normal operating mode.

8) Due to French import laws, the Microsoft encryption support used to
create archive (.cpg) files with the Depot
is not available on the French version of the Windows Operating Systems.
Therefore, there is no way to save archive files when the Depot is
installed on the French version of Windows. Until import laws are
changed such that Microsoft can provide encryption support, this feature
   can not be addressed.

9) If you attempt to close a dialog box by pressing the 'X' in the upper right
of the dialog while the application is still busy (the cursor is shaped like
an hourglass), the application may terminate.

10) When modifying/updating Frequency Picklist, the Conventional Personality,
Trunking Personality and Trunking System dialogs must be closed for them
to get properly updated. Failing to do so may cause unpredictable results.

11) Currently, the product does not support 700 MHz frequency. Please ignore 700 MHz
frequency information in tag name and help contents.

12) Feature limitation: Only use iButton by parallel port or USB port at one time.
It's not supported to use iButtons both by parallel port and USB port.

13) Feature limitation: It's recommended to close Advanced System Key Administrator
when loading Advanced System Key to Depot.

14) When upgrading radio by FLASHport,if one error message box is popped out
during upgrading, Menu Item: Tools->FLASHport->Upgrade Radio will be grayed
after press Enter key of Keyboard to close the upgrading window.
We have two recommendation methods to avoid this issue:
    (1) Use mouse instead of press Enter Key of Keyboard to close the upgrading
    window.
    (2) Close and reopen Depot if this situation happens.
